VARIS Leaky Feeder Radio Communications System

Delta Electric Inc. is a distributor for the VARIS Leaky Feeder radio system. This communications system will allow wireless radio communications throughout the mining operations both on the surface and underground. Instant underground communication is now available via MSHA approved radios carried by all personnel as well as mobile radios installed in man-trip and utility supply vehicles.   Additionally, cross-band repeater systems can interface UHF and VHF radios used throughout the mines.

Open Protocol Mine Monitoring System (OPMMS)

A centralized package which enables all equipment using Ethernet protocol to communicate over the same system, and affords complete system integration, control, and monitoring of equipment as well as hazardous gases.

RFID Tagging/Tracking (MSHA & WV Approved)

Allows tracking of mining personnel as well as mining vehicles & equipment. The system provides an easy interface to any Ethernet based network and can be supplied with converters to a fiber optic backbone, RS-485 multi-drop, coax, or Leaky Feeder Systems. Working together with the Matrix Design Group, we are pleased to announce the availability of the METS RFID Tracking Solution.

Voice Over IP (VOIP) Telephone Solution

Offers rich and flexible features designed specifically for the mining industry. These phones offer classical PBX functionality, advanced features, and operates with traditional standards-based telephone systems and Voice over IP systems. We offer the features one would expect of a large proprietary PBX system such as voicemail, conference calling, call queuing, system wide paging and call detail records for your underground operation as well as offices. Voice over IP typically uses the SIP or H.323 protocol to signal call setup. The audio stream is then sent over the Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) using an encoding/compression protocol such as G.711 or G.729.

Even in today's world of wireless communications the page phone continues to be rugged and reliable. You can now include older page phones into your communications network using ATA converters.  Page phone telephone solutions are safe, effective communication devices which have been in use for over 30 years in underground and surface mining, tunneling, grain elevators, power plants, and many other industrial operations.

Two-Way Radios Enable instant above ground and underground communication to personnel via installed mobile radios in the man-trip vehicles and utility supply vehicles. Also, wherever a Leaky Feeder cable is installed, personnel are able to communicate with all other personnel throughout the mine via MSHA approved radios. Additionally, cross-band repeater systems can interface the MSHA approved radios used at the mine face with all other radios used throughout the system. This will allow communications from the surface to the face and all travel ways that the Leaky Feeder cable is installed.
